# Fakespot Alternatives in 2026: Amazon Review Checkers That Still Work

Published 2026-10-26. https://tryadlicio.com/blog/fakespot-alternatives

**Short answer:** Fakespot shut down on July 1, 2025, and ReviewMeta and The Review Index no longer work either. For a free grade on an Amazon product, the closest replacements today are [Null Fake](https://nullfake.com/) and [RateBud](https://www.ratebud.ai/), which both run on their own websites with no account. FakeFind, Savinoo and Review Radar do a similar job as Chrome extensions. Pair any of them with Amazon's own review labels and a price history tool such as [Keepa](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/keepa-amazon-price-tracke/neebplgakaahbhdphmkckjjcegoiijjo), and read what the unhappy buyers say before you trust the stars.

**How we checked:** we opened every site and Chrome Web Store listing below on October 26, 2026, and copied the user counts, update dates and prices from them. We did not test how accurate any fake review checker is, so there are no scores or rankings of accuracy here. Adlicio publishes this page. Our own free tool, the [Amazon review analyzer](/tools/amazon-review-analyzer), is not a fake review checker, and we say below where it helps and where the others do the job better.

## What happened to Fakespot

Mozilla, which owned Fakespot, closed it in 2025. Its announcement, ["Investing in what moves the internet forward"](https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/building-whats-next/), says: "Fakespot shuts down on July 1, 2025" and "You will no longer be able to use the Fakespot extensions, mobile apps, or website from July 1, 2025." The Review Checker built into Firefox ended earlier, on June 10, 2025, according to the [Firefox 139 release notes](https://www.firefox.com/en-US/firefox/139.0/releasenotes/). Today fakespot.com redirects to that announcement.

Two other names still appear in older lists of alternatives:

- **ReviewMeta.** reviewmeta.com answers with an error instead of a page, and its Chrome extension is no longer in the Chrome Web Store. There was no shutdown notice we could find.
- **The Review Index.** thereviewindex.com returns a server error. The last archived copy of the site says: "Due to Amazon's policy changes, TheReviewIndex.com is permanently down" ([Wayback Machine](https://web.archive.org/web/20260827/https://thereviewindex.com/)).

## Null Fake: the closest thing to the old Fakespot grade

Null Fake describes itself as a "Free Amazon Fake Review Checker" that uses AI "to detect fake, suspicious, and AI-generated reviews". Paste an Amazon link on [nullfake.com](https://nullfake.com/) and you get a letter grade from A to F, a fake review percentage estimate and an explanation, which the site says takes 30 to 90 seconds. Every analysis gets a shareable link.

The website says it is free with "no daily limits, no account required, and no premium tiers". The [Chrome extension](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/null-fake-product-review/fgngdgdpfcfkddgipaafgpnadiikfkaa) works differently: its listing asks you to enter an API key from nullfake.com, and it is marked as offering in-app purchases. It had 2,000 users and was updated October 9, 2026. If you want the Fakespot habit of a grade per product, start with the website.

## RateBud: a trust score and a grade, no sign-up

[RateBud](https://www.ratebud.ai/) gives "a Trust Score (0-100) and a Grade (A-F) for any Amazon product" and says it works on more than 20 Amazon domains, which matters if you shop outside the US. The site says it is 100% free with no sign-up. Its [Chrome extension](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/gflpdkhaefnjpljmgbgbapeihpihglok) adds the score as a badge on product pages. The listing had 1,000 users and was last updated January 22, 2026.

## FakeFind, Savinoo and Review Radar: checkers inside Chrome

These three work on the Amazon page itself, so you do not copy links anywhere.

- **FakeFind** adds an Analyze Reviews button near the product title and returns a Trust Score from 1 to 10, an adjusted rating and a short summary. Its listing says it stays free by showing affiliate links for scanned products. It had 1,000 users, a 1.3 out of 5 rating from 3 ratings, and was last updated February 27, 2026.
- **Savinoo** looks at review patterns, ratings, prices and discounts to flag "potentially suspicious review activity" and to compare products. It supports Amazon.com in the US only. It had 2,000 users and was updated October 12, 2026.
- **Review Radar** puts a trust mark on each review instead of one grade for the product, and recalculates the star rating without the low-trust reviews. It is the newest of the three, with 121 users on October 26, 2026. The free plan covers 100 review scans a month ([pricing](https://jollygoodapps.com/review-radar-amazon/)).

All three estimate from the public reviews. None of them can see Amazon's purchase records.

## Amazon's own tools: badges, summaries and the Report link

Amazon checks purchases itself, which no outside tool can do. According to Amazon, when it confirms that a reviewer bought the item, "we label the review as Verified Purchase", and reviews written through its Vine program, where reviewers get products free, "are identified with a 'Vine Review' badge" ([Amazon](https://trustworthyshopping.aboutamazon.com/how-amazon-maintains-a-trusted-review-experience)). If a review looks fake, the same page asks you to report it with the Report link on the listing.

Many product pages also show a short AI summary of the reviews, the "Customers say" paragraph. Amazon says it highlights "the product features and customer sentiment frequently mentioned across written reviews" and uses "only our trusted review corpus from verified purchases" ([Amazon](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/amazon-ai/amazon-improves-customer-reviews-with-generative-ai)).

Amazon also reports how much it removes. It says it "blocked more than 275 million suspected fake reviews" in 2024 ([Amazon](https://trustworthyshopping.aboutamazon.com/global-action-against-fake-reviews)), and "hundreds of millions" in 2025 ([Amazon](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/policy-news-views/amazon-trustworthy-shopping-experience-report-2025)).

## Keepa and CamelCamelCamel: check the price, not the reviews

A price tracker is the other half of checking a deal, and the two biggest still work. [Keepa](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/keepa-amazon-price-tracke/neebplgakaahbhdphmkckjjcegoiijjo) adds price history charts and price drop alerts to Amazon product pages; its extension had 5,000,000 users and was updated October 23, 2026. [The Camelizer](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/the-camelizer/ghnomdcacenbmilgjigehppbamfndblo) shows camelcamelcamel.com's price history and sends an email when the price drops; it had 800,000 users and was last updated June 7, 2024.

Neither checks reviews. They answer a different question: whether the "deal" next to the reviews is a real discount.

## Read what real buyers complain about

A fake review checker asks whether the five-star reviews are real. Before you buy, a second question is often more useful: what do the disappointed buyers say, and do many of them say the same thing?

That is what the free [Amazon review analyzer](/tools/amazon-review-analyzer) is for. Paste a product link and it reads a live sample of the public reviews, groups the repeated praise and complaints, and keeps the review quotes behind each theme with a link to the source, so you can check the wording yourself. A complaint that ten buyers describe in their own words, such as a seam that splits or a battery that fades after a month, tells you more than an average rating.

It does not grade products or detect fake reviews, and it reads a sample, not every review: on some runs Amazon returns only about ten. You get one free analysis a week without an account, and a free Adlicio account gets 30 a day. For a grade, use Null Fake or RateBud. For what goes wrong with the product, read the complaints.

## How to check Amazon reviews yourself

You can do most of what these tools do in five minutes on the product page:

1. **Read the 1, 2 and 3 star reviews first.** Sort by most recent and look for the same problem in several of them.
2. **Check the badges.** Verified Purchase means Amazon confirmed the purchase. Vine Review means the reviewer got the product free from Amazon's program.
3. **Make sure the reviews describe this product.** If they talk about a different item, size or model, the listing may have been merged with another one.
4. **Look at the dates and the wording.** Many five-star reviews on the same few days, in similar words, deserve suspicion.
5. **Check the price history** in Keepa or The Camelizer before you trust a discount.
6. **Report what looks fake** with the Report link, so Amazon can check it.

## FAQ

**Is Fakespot coming back?** Mozilla shut down the Fakespot website, apps and extensions on July 1, 2025, and fakespot.com now redirects to Mozilla's [announcement](https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/building-whats-next/). The Firefox Review Checker ended on June 10, 2025.

**Does ReviewMeta still work?** No. On October 26, 2026, reviewmeta.com returned an error instead of a page, and its Chrome extension was no longer in the Chrome Web Store.

**What is the best free Fakespot alternative?** For a grade per product with no account, Null Fake and RateBud are the closest, and both say they are free. We did not test their accuracy, so try both on a product you already know.

**Is there an Amazon fake review checker that works as a Chrome extension?** Yes: FakeFind, Savinoo, Review Radar, and the extensions from RateBud and Null Fake. Check the user count and the last update date on the listing before you install one.

**Can any tool prove a review is fake?** No. These tools estimate from patterns in public reviews, such as timing, wording and ratings. Only Amazon sees the purchase records behind the Verified Purchase badge.

**Are fake reviews illegal?** In the US, the FTC's rule banning fake reviews and testimonials prohibits their sale or purchase. It was [announced on August 14, 2024](https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2024/08/federal-trade-commission-announces-final-rule-banning-fake-reviews-testimonials) and [took effect on October 21, 2024](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/consumer-reviews-testimonials-rule-questions-answers).

**Is Adlicio's Amazon review analyzer a fake review checker?** No. It shows what buyers praise and complain about, with the quotes behind each theme. Use it next to a checker, not instead of one.
